The Art Camp held last week at the Community Center was even
bigger than last year. A total of 35 children participated from Eagle,
Palmyra, Unadilla, and Syracuse. It's always amazing how they
interpret things so differently, and so wonderful to have the
building used in a learning experience again. This year's program
was entitled "Print Rehab". It included making bowls from recycled
magazines, wreaths, building a print block from cardboard, cereal
boxes, balsa wood, and other found materials, sculptures from old
paperback books, and designing monograms (every artist should
sign their work, right?). Sarah Martin returned as artist leader
assisted by Amanda Davis, and some helpful and eager helpers.
As part of the final day program, Jenni Brant, from the Kimmel
Nelson Center for the Arts in Nebraska City spoke to the
campers about different kinds of art and showed them
her creations.
Thanks to Otoe County Partners and People United For Families
for hosting this camp. Keep your fingers crossed that it will happen
again next year!

A reminder that the burn pit facility is only for trees and tree
trimmings, or raw lumber. NO furniture, leaves, yard waste,
painted lumber, dry wall, or bags of garbage allowed. Please
dispose of these items properly. If the state finds these items at
the burn pit we would be in violation of our permit and the site
would be shut down. That would be a big loss to the town as well
as the residents. If you're not sure - please call the
Village Office at 828-5355.
