__________
Thursday, August 8, OCGS members and other interested persons
met at the Elmwood Cemetery near Elmwood, and learned a great
deal about the Civil War statue there.

GAR Post information

Original Dedication
They also received a booklet that has photos, stories, and
enlistment information for each Civil War soldier buried there.
The tour was organized by Bonnie Brewer, and after the cemetery
they visited the Legion Post/GAR Museum.

The building was built specifically for the GAR. For those of you
who aren't Civil War buffs, GAR stands for the Grand Army of the
Republic. Bonnie and her helpers have items and displays from
all the wars, and we were thrilled to see Glen & Verda Fentiman
and Bill Vogt represented there. To top off the evening we
stopped at the 4th Street Market for some ice cream and
fun conversation.
