SEPTEMBER
If you don't have anything to do on Monday evenings you can go
to the Village Ballpark and watch a bunch of 6 year olds
learning to play soccer. Give them some encouragement!
Our condolences to the family and friends of Margo Larson,
who passed away on Saturday, September 21st. She was one
of the sweetest people you will ever meet.

Larry & Denise Boardman, Keith & Sandi Kimbell, Craig & Chris
Kimbell, Michele & Matt Capps, Maisie & Madison Hillman,
Bob & Barb Wilhelm, Deric, Codi, Emmie & Hudson Hanke,
Travis, Kaylee, Austin, McKenna & Reed Hanke and
Mary Hanke spent a wonderful weekend at the Acorns Resort
at Milford Lake, Kansas. There was some fishing going on and
some boat rides, GREAT food, postcard sunsets, and lots of
fun. What a beautiful place!

Continued get well wishes to Marvin Lucas.
Remember October is Breast Cancer Awareness
month - get out your "pink".
Did you know that in May 1938, 3937 pounds of Air Mail
was delivered throughout Nebraska to celebrate Air
Mail's 20th anniversary?
As you know OCGS has been responsible for putting up
many rural school signs to designate where those
schools once stood; we took this one over the
weekend in Kansas. What a great job!

This historical, hysterical event will take place on Sunday, October 13, at 2:30 PM, downstairs in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse. In the Open Division, fiddlers will play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice. There will also be other divisions of competition available for the adventurous fiddlers, including a Singing Fiddler's Contest, a Twin Fiddler's Contest, a Fee-Fi-Faux Fiddler's Contest (fiddle tunes played on any instrument other than a fiddle), and a Hocus-Pocus Contest (cross-tuning, sound effects, dancing, etc.), which will give fiddlers an opportunity to play tunes that are usually not allowed in any other contest.
