This Friday, November 22, will be 50 years since JFK was
assassinated. For all of you who graduated from Syracuse,
Nebr. before 1980, you will remember Ron Wagner, coach,
freshman science, and sophomore biology teacher, and,
of course, physical education instructor. A soft-spoken and
humorous guy who could bring the whole room to tears as he
was dissecting a frog, or make us blush as we learned the basic
bandage techniques on "Annie" the blow-up patient. Where was
I when President Kennedy was shot? I was in the library, as
was the whole biology class, and the librarian, Mrs. Masters,
asked me to return and tell Ron what had happened. It was the
first time I had ever seen a grown man cry. By the time class was
dismissed, everyone was crying. And it seems to me, we
were pretty much in tears for weeks to come. I will remember
that day as long as I live.
Thanks to Rita & Danny Mitchell for donating the nice
Schwinn exercise bike for the exercise room.
Here's hoping all your family makes it home for
Thanksgiving safely - have a wonderful holiday!

Friday, 11-21-1913, The Otoe Union:
A son was born to Otto Young's and Phil Miller's. A daughter
was born to Curtis Massie's. R.J. Vaughn sold Lots 1,2, &3,
Block 28, White's Addition, to H. Byron Barker for $250. E.L.
Brownlee left with a car of goods for Klickitat County,
Washington, where he would make his new home. Ruth
Whipple was the teacher at Orchard Hill. "Holly Luff has a
highly discolored optic and Paul Stutt a bruised jaw and is
otherwise bruised up. We are not certain whether they
received these injuries from being dumped out of a buggy
(as they state) or from too much "basketball" last
Saturday night."
