A nice crowd attended the Countryside Bank's 125th

anniversary. Did you know the Bank's opening was delayed

13 days in 1888 due to the blizzard? Bo Brandt gave a short

history of the business, including some important dates in Unadilla's

history. Alberta Block also shared her memories and

experiences of Marie Rietsch, who was a long time Bank

employee, as was Alberta herself. As always, it was nice to

visit with old friends.

Thank you to these additional All Fund Drive donors:

Suzanne Porter, Teresa Liesemeyer, Wendy Werner,

and Jeanie Steinkuhler. You made Santa smile!

The Unadilla Area Fund met Tuesday, December 10. The

All Fund Drive was wrapped up and the planning began

for Groundhog Day. (Just a reminder, it is the first

Saturday in February!).

Barb Wilhelm and Mary Hanke attended the Mary

Katherine Goddard DAR chapter meeting on Wednesday,

December 13. Afterwards they delivered jackets, hoodies,

stocking caps, gloves, and socks to Victory Village, 825

Dorcas (old St. Joseph's hospital.) They are a huge supplier

of needed items to homeless veterans and their supply

closet was empty. Did you know there are over 900 homeless

veterans registered with the Department of Veteran's Affairs

in Omaha? Some of them are women. In March the chapter

will meet again to crochet sleeping mats for them. For

more information, see the flyer below. If you have colored

plastic shopping bags you would like to donate for this

project, please contact Barb at 402-828-5705, or leave them

at the Village Office in Unadilla. Also, we are looking for

size "Q" crochet hooks.

"Ethan Claymore" Opens Winter Season at

Mahoney State Park
Ashland, NE [November 27, 2013] -Together, Mahoney State Park and KBC Productions announce that the Christmas production, "Ethan Claymore," will be playing this month at the Kountze Memorial Theater. Show dates are December 6-8, 13-15, 20-22, and 26-30. All shows begin at 7:30pm except for Sundays which are 2:00pm matinees.
Written by Norm Foster, "Ethan Claymore" is the story of a man who needs to get his life back on track in time to celebrate the season.  Ethan can't seem to find any holiday cheer, and what's worse is he's verging on bankruptcy. With the help of his neighbor, a local school teacher, and his brother, Ethan tries to find his Christmas spirit and save his farm. The warmth of a Norman Rockwell painting mixed with just a touch of Seinfeld, Ethan Claymore will be a delight for the whole family this holiday season.
Directed by Samantha Colbert of Lincoln, the play features Doug and Matthew Rothgeb of Omaha, Harold Scott of Lincoln, Brandy Palatas of Papillion, Aaron Spracklin of Elmwood, and Kevin Holdorf of Manley. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children under 12.  Call Mahoney State Park at  (402) 994-2523 extension 7122 to make reservations.
