Hey Winter_Go_away

Tuesday, February 18, the Unadilla Area Fund/Foundation

met at the Community Center Library. Those in attendance were

Larry Larson, Bob Brandt, Peggy Leefers, Corinne Zahn, and

Barb Wilhelm. Groundhog Day activities were discussed and

adjustments made for next year. Of course, there's nothing much

we can do about mother nature! We have narrowed our speakers

list down to a few. Let us know what you'd be interested in, and

what we could do better. We're always open to suggestions!

Condolences to the friends and family of former resident,

Jeanne Pearson. Also to the Gary Boone family on the

loss of Gary's sister.

Continued get well wishes to Barb Brandt.

Hope your recovery is speedy!

Did you know recycling just one aluminum can saves enough

energy to run a computer or television set for 3 hours?

It takes 95% less energy to make a new aluminum can

from a recycled one.

Nyckelharpa Concerto Premieres in Nebraska

On Sunday, April 13, at 3 PM, the Hastings Symphony will be performing a world premiere: the world's first concerto for nyckelharpa and orchestra.  The piece is composed by Dr. Christopher Stanichar, and will be performed by multi-instrumentalist, Deborah Greenblatt.  The piece is in three movements, each one reflecting a story by Hans Christian Anderson: "The Brave Tin Soldier", "The Ugly Duckling", and "The Emperor's New Clothes".

The nyckelharpa is the official fiddle of Sweden.  The instrument has 16 strings in all.  There are 3 melody strings, manipulated by keys, one droning string, and 12 strings that vibrate sympathetically.

For more information about the nyckelharpa, contact the American Nyckelharpa Association (www.nyckelhapra.org/).
