Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday, March 9.Don't forget to set your clocks ahead before you go to bed Saturday night.

Condolences to the many friends and family of Gene Watermeier, who passed away Saturday, March 1.
The Scott Hitzemann family were weekend visitors at the home of Bob & Barb Wilhelm.
A large crowd attended the funeral of former resident, Jeanne Peaarson, Thursday, February 27. Such a musical family, and many of them shared special songs and stories. She will be at rest in the Unadilla Cemetery.
The bitter cold weather and the threat of snow diminished the turn out for many events held over the weekend. This isn't what you promised us Unadilla Bill!
March is Women's History Month. Do you know the history of the women in your life?

The former home of David & Jeanne Pearson has been demolished. This photo was when Frederick Lucas lived there (it is part of the collection showcased in the book by Norman Rodaway.)

Nyckelharpa Concerto Premieres in Nebraska
On Sunday, April 13, at 3 PM, the Hastings Symphony will be performing a world premiere: the world's first concerto for nyckelharpa and orchestra. The piece is composed by Dr. Christopher Stanichar, and will be performed by multi-instrumentalist, Deborah Greenblatt. The piece is in three movements, each one reflecting a story by Hans Christian Anderson: "The Brave Tin Soldier", "The Ugly Duckling", and "The Emperor's New Clothes".
The nyckelharpa is the official fiddle of Sweden. The instrument has 16 strings in all. There are 3 melody strings, manipulated by keys, one droning string, and 12 strings that vibrate sympathetically.
For more information about the nyckelharpa, contact the American Nyckelharpa Association (www.nyckelhapra.org/).
