A big thank you to all the residents who helped us search
for the water leak. It was finally found between Dwight Kastens
and Corey Schulz, and has been repaired. Thanks also
for your patience.

The date for the town clean up day has been set for June 21.
We had changed it last year to the week after the BBQ, but
this year that would make the date July 4th weekend, and
who wants to impose on such a great holiday?
Get well wishes to Glenda Willnerd.

The Books & Brew Bookclub met Tuesday, March 11,
at the home of Peggy Leefers, with 7 women participating.
The book discussed was "1000 White Women" written by
Jim Fergus. We will meet next on April 18th, and the book
will be "Morning Glory" by Sarah Jio. Please join us!

A large crowd attended the Unadilla Volunteer Fire
Department's annual banquet at The Bar, Sunday evening,
March 16. Fireman of the year was Tyler Crownover and
Rescue was Irene Rodaway. There were door prizes, good
food, and lots of people to talk to. Sadly, it was announced
that Annette Block will be retiring from the Rescue Squad.
The statistics from the past year were discussed and Chief
Steve Vodicka reminded everyone that there is a burning
ban until a sufficient amount of moisture has fallen.
Thanks to Joyce Sporhase for the big sack of
plastic bags!

Nyckelharpa Concerto Premieres in Nebraska
On Sunday, April 13, at 3 PM, the Hastings Symphony will be performing a world premiere: the world's first concerto for nyckelharpa and orchestra. The piece is composed by Dr. Christopher Stanichar, and will be performed by multi-instrumentalist, Deborah Greenblatt. The piece is in three movements, each one reflecting a story by Hans Christian Anderson: "The Brave Tin Soldier", "The Ugly Duckling", and "The Emperor's New Clothes".
The nyckelharpa is the official fiddle of Sweden. The instrument has 16 strings in all. There are 3 melody strings, manipulated by keys, one droning string, and 12 strings that vibrate sympathetically.
