Saturday was a great day for Maisie Hillman. Not only was it her
birthday, but her volleyball team won their bracket. Her Mom hosted
friends and family that evening for a little celebration and most of
her cousins were there. Matt smoked a wonderful brisket and of
course there was LOTS of yummy food to eat. The Scott
Hitzemann family also attended, and spent the weekend with
Bob & Barb Wilhelm.

Tuesday night, March 25, was the 4-6th grade Music Concert.
There were selections from the 5th and 6th grade bands and
delightful vocals from each class. It was held in the senior high
gym and a large crowd attended. Both Mr. Parde and
Mrs. Rodgers should be congratulated on such a fine program.
Get well wishes to Ralph Tipken.

MARCH MADNESS TAKES ITS TOLL ON
UNADILLA MAN'S RESIDENTIAL STATUS
Ron Conradi was such a believer in the Oklahoma
basketball team that he vowed he would move to North Dakota
if they beat Oklahoma.
Saturday morning, the "coffee crowd" presented him
with a resolution stating how much they would all miss
him when he moves.
Junior soccer players will again be practicing down on the ball
field, starting April 7 & 8th at 6:00 p.m. It will continue through
May 12 & 13, or May 19 & 20 if it rains. Please bring your
lawn chairs and give the kids some good feedback!
Village Maintenance would like to remind everyone that the
only things accepted at the burn pile are trees, branches, and
unfinished lumber. No leaves or garbage please. This could
make us lose our permit with the state, and there would no longer
be a burn pile.

Nyckelharpa Concerto Premieres in Nebraska
On Sunday, April 13, at 3 PM, the Hastings Symphony will be performing a world premiere: the world's first concerto for nyckelharpa and orchestra. The piece is composed by Dr. Christopher Stanichar, and will be performed by multi-instrumentalist, Deborah Greenblatt. The piece is in three movements, each one reflecting a story by Hans Christian Anderson: "The Brave Tin Soldier", "The Ugly Duckling", and "The Emperor's New Clothes".
The nyckelharpa is the official fiddle of Sweden. The instrument has 16 strings in all. There are 3 melody strings, manipulated by keys, one droning string, and 12 strings that vibrate sympathetically.
For more information about the nyckelharpa, contact the American Nyckelharpa Association (www.nyckelhapra.org/).
