Thanks to June & Ralph Tipken for their donation of

a picnic table for the park.

Eleven OCGS members met Thursday evening, May 8,

at the Community Center Resource Room. A short meeting

was held to review plans for the Nursery Hill/Ft. Kearney

Cutoff presentation in June and our participation in the

Talmage Days with a Genealogical Roadshow, also in June.

After the meeting, former resident and professional genealogist,

Marcie Garnett, gave a very interesting program on

"Mining the Gold from Probate Records".

Baby boy

Congratulations to Becky & Michael West on the birth of

Ike Timothy and Hayes Lynn. They weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. and

7 lbs. 15 oz. respectively, and were 19 1/2" and 19 3/4" long.

They both have dark, curly hair, and Great-grandma Peggy

says everyone is doing fine.

Flags at the Unadilla Cemetery will be put up Saturday

morning, May 24th, at 6:30 a.m., and taken down at 6:00 p.m.

on Monday, May 26th. Volunteers are always welcome,

as are the donations of casket flags.

Dog licenses expired April 30th. There are several

residents who still have not licensed their animals. Please

take care of this as soon as possible.

cloudy rain

The Western Wilhelm Outpost received 2.20" of rain over

the weekend. We know at least an inch of that soaked in,

but we're not sure about the rest. Sunday evening was

certainly a "bumpy ride".

Did you know if you started using cloth napkins it would

keep 500,000+ tons of paper based trash out of landfills

each year? Even considering the cost of laundering those

napkins, the impact on the planet would be huge.

What you can do to prevent cross connections and keep

your drinking water safe: Protect faucet extensions by

installing proper backflow devices (hose bib vacuum

breakers) on all faucets capable of having a hose or other

extension attached.
