Village Clerk, Corinne Zahn, reports Dwight and Arlin have
moved the weight room to the new room across from the
bathrooms. We will be getting a new treadmill soon. No one
under 18 is allowed without a parent or guardian. Anyone seen
going in under that age will get their membership cancelled
and the card will be disabled. The Village can not be responsible
for children who are left there with out adult supervision and the
damages that follow. The video can be provided to the police
if necessary.

Are you prepared? September is National Preparedness
Month. All Nebraska families should have disaster kits.
Individuals and families should be ready to assume a role
in natural and man-made disasters. Plans should include
where to meet if a home is destroyed and include a list of
important information, including medical information, for
every family member. Be prepared to shelter in place for a
minimum of three days. Tornadoes, floods, and fires can
happen at any time, so make your preparations now!

Condolences to Paula Carmichael
on the loss of her mother.
A reminder that the Community Library will be closed
all the Saturdays in September.
Our veteran's organizations remind us to fly an American
flag of any size on 9-11, Patriot Day. Honor those who lost
their lives, and their families, and those who are fighting today,
at home and abroad, to preserve our freedom.

The Lofte Community Theatre will open the family comedy-drama, “King O’ The Moon” on Saturday, August 30. Written by Tom Dudzick, “King” is Part II in a trilogy loosely based upon his family life in Buffalo, NY. Part I, “Over the Tavern,” was produced by the Lofte in 2009. “King O’ The Moon,” follows the Pazinski family’s journey into the rebellious 1960s, just as Apollo 11 is about to land on the moon. The family gathers together to remember their father, Chet and catch-up with each other in the midst of the Civil Rights movement and the Viet Nam War.

Greenblatt & Seay proudly announce the Eighteenth ANNUAL SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLING BEE. This historical, hysterical event will take place on Sunday, October 12, at 2:30 PM, downstairs in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse. In the Open Division, fiddlers will play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice. There will also be other divisions of competition available for the adventurous fiddlers, including a Singing Fiddler's Contest, a Twin Fiddler's Contest, a Fee-Fi-Faux Fiddler's Contest (fiddle tunes played on any instrument other than a fiddle), and a Hocus-Pocus Contest (cross-tuning, sound effects, dancing, etc.), which will give fiddlers an opportunity to play tunes that are usually not allowed in any other contest.
Contestants can pre-register on line (http://www.greenblattandseay.
Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students, and $1.00 for children. Fiddlers and their back-ups are admitted for free. The contest will be followed by a light snack and an acoustic jam session.
