Bob and I got to cross another item off our bucket list:

We went on the Junk Jaunt! If you've never been before,

you should go at least once. What a fun three days and

we saw lots of people we knew. Yes, we brought home

a few treasures but it was more fun to meet the people

of these small towns and see the scenery changes as

we traveled "the route". We were glad to see that we're

not the only ones promoting our hometown.

Oasis

Each

stop on the Jaunt had a point of interest. We

especially liked the camel in Cairo. Their motto is:

"Cairo, the oasis of Nebraska." No fear of the

groundhog there!

Unadilla Maintence advises us that the water has been

turned off at the park. This covers water hydrants, the

Park Shelter kitchen, and the bathrooms in the concession

stand. The bathrooms will also be locked until spring.

Thank You to everyone who sent cards called, visited, sent flowers and food, I really appreciate all of the messages and encouragement. A special Thanks to my family  who has helped with  my everyday living and made it so much easier to get through each day.    The knee replacement a great success, the drop foot  complication has slowed me down and I hope to be back to normal before long.   Thank You  to all.  Peggy Leefers

Hitchcock Based, “Wrong Window” Opens at Lofte

Manley, NE [September 24, 2014] -  The hilarious Hitchcock-inspired farce, “ Wrong Window!” will open on the Lofte Community Theatre’s stage on October 11.  The script is written by the successful writing team of Van Zandt and Milmore whose other works include “Love, Sex and the I.R.S.,” and “Suitehearts.”

New York couple Marnie and Jeff think their neighbor has killed his wife.  However, the woman’s body soon disappears and the bumbling witnesses sneak into the cross-courtyard apartment to solve the mystery.  In all, there are over 30 script references to the works and characters in Alfred Hitchcock films.  Can you spot them all?

The production is directed by and stars Kevin Colbert as Jeff.  His wife Marnie is played by Brandy Palatas of Papillion.  Rounding out the cast are Scott Pope and Scott Nielsen of Eagle, Melinda Mead of Plattsmouth, John Bell and Ken Patry of Omaha, and Jeff Johnston and Ken Snyder of Elmwood.  Alyssa DiPaolo of Lincoln gives a stunning performance as the dead body.

Performance dates for “Wrong Window!” are October 11, 12, 17-19 and 24-26.  Friday and Saturday curtain times are at 7:30pm.  All Sunday performances are 2pm matinees.  Tickets are $19 and reservations can be made by calling the box office at 402-234-2553.  The Lofte Community Theatre is located just east of Hwy 50 near the town of Manley.

Greenblatt & Seay proudly announce the Eighteenth ANNUAL SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLING BEE.  This historical, hysterical event will take place on Sunday, October 12, at 2:30 PM, downstairs in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse.  In the Open Division, fiddlers will play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice.  There will also be other divisions of competition available for the adventurous fiddlers, including a Singing Fiddler's Contest, a Twin Fiddler's Contest, a Fee-Fi-Faux Fiddler's Contest (fiddle tunes played on any instrument other than a fiddle), and a Hocus-Pocus Contest (cross-tuning, sound effects, dancing, etc.), which will give fiddlers an opportunity to play tunes that are usually not allowed in any other contest.

Contestants can pre-register on line (http://www.greenblattandseay.com/schoolhouse_fiddling_bee_preregistration.shtml).

Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students, and $1.00 for children.  Fiddlers and their back-ups are admitted for free.  The contest will be followed by a light snack and an acoustic jam session.
