Barb Wilhelm and Mary Hanke attended the
Mary Katherine Goddard DAR meeting in Omaha
Wednesday. The group met for lunch and then toured
the beautiful St. Cecelia's Cathedral.
Otoe County Genealogical Society met at Douglas
Thursday night, in the hospitality room of the Methodist
Church. Ardys Bruggman was a wonderful hostess
and the turn out was one of the biggest we've had.
Ardys displayed several plates from past Douglas
businesses. She also had notebooks filled with articles
and photos of the town's school, founding, and families.
It was a most enjoyable evening.

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

Friday, 10-16-1914, The Otoe Union:
Byron Barker was home from South Dakota. L.L. Lord and
family moved to Percival, Iowa. The brick work was almost
done on the new school. Holly Stoner ran the mail in
O.G. Stoner's absence. An article from the landscape
gardener at the University Farm gave detailed planting
instructions for spring flowering bulbs.
