Did you know that about 20% of all toilets leak?
Consumers can lose 200 or more gallons of water a day,
that's approximately 8000 gallons a year of wasted water and
unnecessary expense. You can check for a leaky toilet by
putting a few drops of food coloring in the tank. After 15 minutes,
if color appears in the bowl, you have a leak that should be
repaired. If you need help performing this test, please call the
Village Office at 402-828-5355.
The memory of the storms last week will be with us for
awhile. Wednesday evening we woke up to a terrible crash.
The lightening had hit tow trees next to our house and the
force was so great it knocked the clock and a picture off
the wall. Examining those trees after sunrise, we discovered
the bark stripped from our red maple and the cottonwood
tree had huge chunks missing (turning our driveway into
an obstacle course.) Since the trees didn't actually split
apart, only time will tell if they will survive. By Friday we
had nearly 3" of rain.

Will and Jill, two of Unadilla Bill's children, have taken
up residence in the History Room at the Community
Center. They have agreed to allow their photo to be
published.

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

Friday, 6-11-1915, The Otoe Union:
"W.N. Pickerill is putting in a hot water heating system in his
home south of Unadilla and will have it modern now."
A son was born to James Wallens'. "James has a smile
on his face that won't wash off." At the monthly village
board meeting, "Another motion was carried complelling
owners of dogs to keep them on their own premises or
to muzzle them." (The more things change, the
more they stay the same!)
