ATTENTION GOLFERS:
The Unadilla Open will be held at the Wildwood Golf Course
in Nebraska City on Sept. 20 at 1:00 p.m. Fee is $20 for 9 holes
and includes the cart. The sign up sheet is in The Bar.

Recycling begins this Wednesday! Bins are located at
the rock pits west of the railroad tracks. The road and
entrance have had more rock added, and it open to all
area residents. They DO NOT accept glass.

Bob Wilhelm and his bingo minions would like to thank
everyone who patronized the Bingo stand. Proceeds go to
local youth programs. It is sponsored by the Legion, VFW, and
Sons of the American Legion (SAL) organizations.

Condolences to the family and friends of Marlyn Neemann,
who was laid to rest in the Unadilla Cemetery.

What is better on a summer day than homemade ice cream?
Not much! Join the Methodist Church in Unadilla who will
be serving this treat on Sunday, August 16, from 11 - 1.
They're also having sandwiches, salads, and desserts.

A reminder that the burn pit facility is only for trees, tree
trimmings, or raw lumber. NO furniture, leaves, yard waste,
painted lumbeer, dry wall, or bags of garbage. Please dispose
of these items properly. If the state finds these items in the burn
pit, we would be in violation of our permit and the site would
be shut down. That would be a big loss to the Village as well
as the residents. If you're not sure, please call the
Village Office.

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

Friday, 8-6-1915, The Otoe Union:
"Chas. Durbin crippled one of his best horses while grading at
the school grounds." Wm. Farnsworth and family were moving
to University Place (Lincoln). Harry B. Thomas, Unadilla, and
Sylvia M. Novak, Deweese, were married in Lincoln. Ella Fey
announced her engagement to Ralph A. Lincoln, new owner
of the Drug Store. C.W. Lyon was selling his 40 acres 1 mile
south and 3/4 miles west of Unadilla.
One of my favorite quotes of all time:
"I hate housework! You make the beds, you do the dishes -
and six months later you start all over again."
Joan Rivers, 1969
