Kudo's to Deb Moss's girl's basketball team. They won
two hard fought games Sunday and definitely took the
high road in the last one.

Library news: It's time to settle in with a good book during
the cold winter evenings. Featured author for December:
Diana Palmer, a multi New York Times and USA Today
bestselling author. She was voted one of the top ten romance
writers in America. She tells her sensual stories with charm
and humor. Titles include: "Before Sunrise", "Merciless",
"Nelson's Brand", and many more. Stop in and check these
books - and more - at your Unadilla Community Library. One
just for the holiday season: "Finding Noel" by
Richard Paul Evans.

I was asked to share this story from last year: "My family and
friends looked forward to this time of the year because it was the
beginning of "sled season". Sometimes it was sponsored by one
of the churches and sometimes we just got together. The insurance
company would forbid it now, but the town blocked off the street
from the intersection south of the school to Main Street. There
were different variations, depending on who put up the barricades.
(Making the curve to go past the Laundromat was very tricky!)
We only went down the hill in front of the Methodist church once,
it was too scary even for the bravest among us.

We spent hours waxing the runners of our sled with paraffin
wax to make it go faster. If there was a lot of snow or no school,
my Dad would build us a ramp over the railroad tracks on the
old road that went south of the Bank. When you went off the
ramp and up over the tracks, it was like flying! The older kids
who owned a much coveted driver's license, would pull an old
car hood behind their car with 3 or 4 people in it. I don't remember
anyone getting hurt, but I remember quite a few trees getting
"trimmed". When our hands became too cold to guide a sled or
our toes too numb to walk back up the hill, we went to Mom's
kitchen in search of hot chocolate, always with miniature
marshmallows, and sugar cookies."
Please share your stories with us this season!
