Please join us Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. Bob Brandt,
ambassador for the Re-Tree Nebraska movement, sponsored by
the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum, will be planting a new tree in
honor of that occasion. Afterwards he will lead a walking tour of
the park/arboretum, identifying trees planted to date along with
some interesting facts on those trees.

The Bar in Unadilla is a popular stop on motorcycle rallies
and poker runs. Who knew they still made dune buggies?
Did you know our Main Street is on the National Register of
Historic Places? Many towns had businesses and homes that
sprang up next to the railroad, but Unadilla is the only town
in Nebraska that has a curved Main Street. The story goes
that the street curved to line up with the railroad, and the
railroad curved to align with the Nemaha.
You really are from a special place!
Please fly an American flag of any size on Sunday,
September 11, Patriot Day. Honor those who lost their lives
that day, and their families, and those in the armed forces
fighting today, at home and abroad, to
preserve our freedom.

NEW DAYCARE OPPORTUNITY
Hello! As part of the business community, It really helps if our employees have the resources to take care of their families while working for us. As I am sure you know, there is a huge need for daycare, 24 hours a day. There is a possibility of getting a new daycare here in Syracuse but it’s going to take the right people to do this.
Randy Sump has developed and owns the lots west of Cubby’s (Syracuse Business Center). All utilities are in place to start a business. He is thinking about building a building that could fit the needs of a daycare center. A person could go in there and set it up exactly how they please, but the interior furnishings would have to be at the cost of the renter. There is room for an outdoor play yard that can be fenced in. And, of course, there will be the cost of rent.
If you know of anyone that may be interested in starting their own daycare in a building at the Syracuse Business Center, please contact me and I will get you in contact with Randy. It’s an excellent opportunity to fill a much needed gap in our community.
Thank you!

Greenblatt & Seay proudly announce the 20th ANNUAL SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLING BEE. This historical, hysterical event will take place on Sunday, October 9, at 2:30 PM, downstairs in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse. In the Open Division, fiddlers will play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice. There will also be other divisions of competition available for the adventurous fiddlers, including a Singing Fiddler's Contest, a Twin Fiddler's Contest, a Fee-Fi-Faux Fiddler's Contest (fiddle tunes played on any instrument other than a fiddle), and a Hocus-Pocus Contest (cross-tuning, sound effects, dancing, etc.), which will give fiddlers an opportunity to play tunes that are usually not allowed in any other contest.
For more information, and to register on line, log on to: http://www.greenblattandseay.com/schoolhouse_fiddling_bee
Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students, and $1.00 for children. Fiddlers and their back-ups are admitted for free. The contest will be followed by a light snack and an acoustic jam session with Greenblatt & Seay.
