Ron Fechner, Bob Brandt, John Moss
Saturday, September 10, Bob Brandt, assisted by
Ron Fechner and John Moss, planted a Post Oak tree near
the walking path at the Park. It was in honor of Retree Nebraska
week which is September 18-24. Brandt is an ambassador
for the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum, which sponsors the
event. The Post Oak is native to Oklahoma, a member of
the white oak family, and is distinguished by its rounded leaves.

A huge thank you to these tireless workers for cleaning up the damaged red bud tree by the Post Office. It was the largest one in Unadilla. Craig Kimbell, Dan Crownover, Lynn Schomerus.

Duane Nohavec, frequent Unadilla visitor, had the largest
onion at the Lancaster County Fair, weighing in at
2 lbs. 5 oz. and over 17" in diameter. It was a hybrid
sweet spanish onion variety.

NEW DAYCARE OPPORTUNITY
Hello! As part of the business community, It really helps if our employees have the resources to take care of their families while working for us. As I am sure you know, there is a huge need for daycare, 24 hours a day. There is a possibility of getting a new daycare here in Syracuse but it’s going to take the right people to do this.
Randy Sump has developed and owns the lots west of Cubby’s (Syracuse Business Center). All utilities are in place to start a business. He is thinking about building a building that could fit the needs of a daycare center. A person could go in there and set it up exactly how they please, but the interior furnishings would have to be at the cost of the renter. There is room for an outdoor play yard that can be fenced in. And, of course, there will be the cost of rent.
If you know of anyone that may be interested in starting their own daycare in a building at the Syracuse Business Center, please contact me and I will get you in contact with Randy. It’s an excellent opportunity to fill a much needed gap in our community.
Thank you!

Greenblatt & Seay proudly announce the 20th ANNUAL SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLING BEE. This historical, hysterical event will take place on Sunday, October 9, at 2:30 PM, downstairs in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse. In the Open Division, fiddlers will play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice. There will also be other divisions of competition available for the adventurous fiddlers, including a Singing Fiddler's Contest, a Twin Fiddler's Contest, a Fee-Fi-Faux Fiddler's Contest (fiddle tunes played on any instrument other than a fiddle), and a Hocus-Pocus Contest (cross-tuning, sound effects, dancing, etc.), which will give fiddlers an opportunity to play tunes that are usually not allowed in any other contest.
For more information, and to register on line, log on to: http://www.greenblattandseay.com/schoolhouse_fiddling_bee
Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students, and $1.00 for children. Fiddlers and their back-ups are admitted for free. The contest will be followed by a light snack and an acoustic jam session with Greenblatt & Seay.
