The Groundhog Central Committee will sponsor a potluck breakfast on
Thursday morning, February 2, at The Bar. Unadilla Bill will be on hand
for the official broadcast at 7:32 a.m. (Actually, it's 7:32 plus 34
seconds!). Everyone please wear groundhog attire, and encourage your
friends to come.
That evening from 5 -8 p.m., The Unadilla Area Foundation will
sponsor a Groundhog Kings & Queens reception and reunion, at The Bar.
Snacks will be provided and B103.1 will have a live remote broadcast.
Bring a friend. Commemorative shirts and hats will be available at this
event and some will be given as door prizes!
This year's parade will start at 2:00 p.m. Please notice the time change!

The Village of Unadilla's Community Center, which was formerly
the Village's school, needed a new roof on the space that was
over the gym, kitchen and stage. The roof in this area was leaking
and destroying the woodwork on the ceilings, stage and
bleachers. The Village knew the roof had to be repaired but did
not know the extent of the damage. When the initial estimates
for this project came in, the Board thought they would be able
to complete the repairs on their own. Looking closer, they
realized that there was more damage than originally suspected,
which quadrupled the costs. USDA Rural Development provided
$10,900 in grant funds combined with $5000 from the Unadilla
Community Foundation and $52,1000 from the Village, to
pay for the needed roof repairs. With the new roof, the Village
is able to continue holding community events in this
building, including tournaments for both basketball and
volleyball games. It has been able to utilize the facility without
the worry of leaks from the weather or any continued damage
to the wood. The project was completed in November 2015.
Condolences to the Roger Kastens family on the loss of his
mother, Lenora. She was a most admirable woman and will
missed by all.
Condolences also to the Dankleff family on their loss of father
and brother, Gregg Dankleff. It's hard to say goodbye to an
old neighbor.

Greenblatt & Seay's Schoolhouse Performance Series features a concert of Irish music on
Sunday, March 12, at 2:30 PM, in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse. Greenblatt & Seay
& Friends will be singing and playing a variety of instruments, including fiddle, pennywhistle,
folk harp, guitar, hammered dulcimer, and recorders. Traditional Irish tunes will be featured,
along with some Greenblatt & Seay originals inspired by the great Irish traditions.
Greenblatt & Seay have been playing and singing together since the night they met, decades ago.
Their performance on March 12 will include the championship fiddling styles of Deborah
Greenblatt, and the fancy whistle-playing of David Seay.
The concert will be downstairs, and followed by light refreshments, and a chance to chat and
even jam with the performers. Avoca is in southern Cass County, Nebraska, on the 13 C Spur,
one mile south of Highway 34.
Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students and senior citizens, and $1.00 for children.

The historic Old Avoca Schoolhouse was built in 1925, and has been the home of the
Schoolhouse Performance Series since 1990. Music lessons, workshops, fiddle camps,
and field trips are offered by Schoolhouse residents, Greenblatt & Seay, and are available by appointment.
The Old Avoca Schoolhouse in Avoca, Nebraska will be hosting a special "Schoolhouse Celtic Fiddling Camp", for fiddlers, violists, mandolinists, guitarists, and ukulele players. Music from Ireland, Scotland, and Wales will be featured. The sessions will be led by championship fiddler and author, Deborah Greenblatt.
The camp will be on Wednesday, March 15 - Friday, March 17, from 9 AM to 12 Noon. Musicians can sign up for 1 day, or 2 days, or all 3 days.
On Wednesday, participants will be mostly reading tunes, using sheet music in standard notation. We'll be learning melodies, harmonies, and chords. You will be improving your sight reading, and experiencing fiddling fun.
On Thursday, we will be mostly playing tunes by ear, so feel free to bring your recording gadgets. Sheet music versions of the tunes will be provided for you by the end of the day, just in case your ears need the help.
On Friday, we will be mostly jamming, modulating, singing, dancing, experimenting, sharing, and playing fiddle related instruments.
One day: $60.00
Two days: $110.00 ($55 per day)
Three days: $150.00 fee for 3 days. ($50 per day)
