

GROUNDHOG DAY SPEAKER

Regan Anson of Lincoln began duties as Executive Director
of the Nebraska 150 Celebration on September 1, 2015. She
had been Director of Marketing and Communications at
Peru State College since 2006. Growing up in Brunswick,
Nebraska, she is a graduate of Creighton Community High
School, Bachelor's degree from Kearney, and Master's from
Peru State. She will be focusing on Nebraska history and
details of the 150 year Nebraska Statehood Celebration.

Allen & Kathy Shane will be traveling from Florida to renew their
wedding vows on Saturday, February 4, in celebration of their 15th
wedding anniversary. Pastor Sandy Denton will officiate in front of
the Duncan Building at 1:00. Hope to see YOU on
Groundhog Day!

A huge thank you to Jean Lucas and Barb Kastens for bringing
in Nebraska Centennial dresses worn by Elizabeth Callaway
Holscher, Jean Holscher Lucas, Cindy Lucas Rinne, Kelly Lucas
Morrissey, and Penny Lucas Richter. Jean and Marvin have also
donated photos for the display in the History Room.

The VFW and Legion held their annual Holiday Dinner at the
Syracuse Country Club Friday evening, January 27, with a large
crowd attending. Ralph Jay, VFW commander was Master of
Ceremonies and the meal was catered by Melody Teten. Those
attending from Unadilla were: Tyler & Donna Crownover, Ed &
Virginia Reed, Jack Stilwell, Lois Johnson, Larry Larson & Gerri
Eisenhauer, and Bob & Barb Wilhelm. Winners of the essay contest
were announced and read. It was a most enjoyable evening.
Saturday evening the Kimbells' and Wilhelms' traveled to
Lincoln to celebrate the 40th birthday of Karla West Cross.
Jody and Abby were there as well. It was a fun evening of
visiting and talking about old times, and of course, karaoke!
A good time was had by all!

Dr. E.C. Williams returned to Unadilla and resumed his practice.
Paul Hair, son of W.F. Hair, and Florence Roberts, daughter of
Jasper Roberts, were married 1-25-1917 in Lincoln. "I will offer at
Public Auction on the A.H. Jenks farm, better known as the Ned
Rodgers' farm, four miles due west of Unadilla, Thursday, February
8th at 12 o'clock noon: 4 head of horses, 44 head of shoats, and
all my farm implements. A.H. Jenks. Col. Venner, Auctioneer,
C.A. Sweet, Jr., Clerk." Fred Kraft had a bachelor party for
Harry Hopp.
