The rooms were toured and then a light lunch was served in the
Resource Room, also providedby the DAR. Then the group, joined by
members of the community, went to the Unadilla Library, where
Peggy Leefers gave a wonderful program on quilts. She started
with one from her collection dating from about 1890 and continued
up through the years which included a baby quilt for a great-
grandbaby she had just finished Saturday morning!

Some of these quilts will be headed to their new home at the
International Quilt Museum in Lincoln at 33rd & Holdrege.
(Did you know March 19th is "National Quilting Day"?)

Condolences to the many family and friends of Laurence
Royal who passed away on March 8. A lifelong area resident,
farmer and cattleman, he was a joy to visit with. He will be missed
by so many.

We would like to thank Jim Russell for his contribution of the
telegraph key from the railroad depot that was torn down in the
early 1950's and is now on display in the History Room. He also
provided us with many photos never see before as well as a copy
of a school history written by a former teacher. Opening his box
of goodies was like an early birthday present! Thank you also to
Barb Kastens and Jean Lucas for local newspaper articles, and
to Jenice Bates for the POW/MIA empty chair place setting for
the Veterans Room. So thankful to live in this community full of
such generous and thoughtful people!
So glad to report Rose Marie Brandt, Lois Chadwick, Karen
Schwartman, and Sharon Demaree are all on the mend and doing
well. Continued get well wishes to Bruce Hassler and Gerry Davis.
Please share your news with us as we have lots of former residents
who like to know what's going on in the old hometown!
