and Brody Brandt planted a Bald Cypress on Arbor Day,
in the rain, and the temperature was 41 degrees.

Condolences to the many family and friends of
Ann (Stilwell) Crawford. A life-long resident and so active in the
community, she passed away Friday, April 28.
Condolences also to Dan & Bev Anderson on the
loss of Dan's father.

The Unadilla Alumni Annual Dinner will be held on Saturday
night, May 27, 2017 at the Duncan Building in Unadilla. Social
Hour begins at 5:30 with a carry in dinner at 6:30. The honored
classes are 1942, 1947, 1952, and 1957. Those attending are
asked to bring a casserole, salad, or dessert. Fried chicken
will be furnished. The is a $3.00 per person door fee to cover
costs. Invitations go out May 1.
Please note the Fastpitch Fundraiser at Grandpa's Woods
has been changed to this coming Sunday, May 7th.

Friday, 5-4-1917, The Otoe Union:
The April 1917 average temperature was 49.5 degrees with
4.95 inches of precipitation. A large monument was erected in
the Unadilla Cemetery for the John Doyle family, all of whom
perished in the 1908 flood. Elmer Pohlman, clerk at the
Unadilla Bank, quit his position and enlisted in the U.S. Army.

GREENBLATT & SEAY SONGBOOK

Multi-instrumentalists, Greenblatt & Seay, will be sharing their original tunes and stories on Sunday, May 14, at 2:30 PM, in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse. This concert celebrates over 30 years of musical experiences inspired by their children, their students, and their Schoolhouse home/studio/sanctuary. Light-hearted vocals will blend with the supportive textures of fiddle, harmonica, guitar, nyckelharpa, mandolin, etc.
Greenblatt & Seay have been playing beautiful music together since the night they met. Both are now Master Artists with the Nebraska Arts Council's Artist-in-the-Schools program, and participate in Humanities Nebraska's Speakers Bureau.
The concert will be downstairs, and followed by light refreshments, and a chance to chat and even jam with Greenblatt & Seay.
Avoca is in southern Cass County, Nebraska, on the 13 C Spur, one mile south of Highway 34.
