When was the last time you saw bumper to bumper traffic on
Hwy #50? This was heading out of Syracuse on the south
edge of town.

We were prepared: shirt from Nitty Gritty, check; solar eclipse
glasses from Unadilla Library, check; water and
snacks, check; lawnchairs, check; staked our claim in
front of Unadilla Hardware, check.
Let the party begin!!!

These folks were from Estonia and Minnesota. Between
50 and 60 people on Main Street plus others at the Park,
front yards, and along the highway.

If we would have had a parade, these ladies would have been
Grand Marshalls: Rose Brandt, Peggy Leefers and Lois Ebert.

Couple from New York. Nebraska was one of the 4 states they had
never been to, so when they found out about the eclipse, they
figured they had to come!

This was our view most of the morning, up to and
after the eclipse.

The grandsons were unimpressed up until the time it
started getting dark!

Totality!
Yes it was DARK! And yes, the temperature dropped noticeably!

We came home and watched the final coverage on TV.
This photo from NASA captures it perfectly!
We have been seeing lots of hummingbirds again
so get your feeder back up!

Thanks to Maureen Vogt for her donation to the medical
supply closet at the Post Home in Syracuse.
Thanks also to Sandi Kimbell for the old telephone office
register from the early 1940's and to Alberta Block for the
newspaper article on Henry Horstman. What great additions
to our Resource and History Rooms!

So much going on this last weekend! After the sports
kickoff in Syracuse Friday night, we came back to the
benefit for the Hopewell Cemetery organized by the
children of Gene and Virginia Bryan, at the Duncan
Building. Needless to say, the music was wonderful, as
were the poems, and the food was fantastic. Russ does
a great Dean Martin. What a generous and loving family!
Thanks so much for the good time and raising over $2000
for such a worthy cause.
