A huge thank you to Jim Russell for sending more items
for our History and Resource Rooms. Items include photos,
postcards (ones I had never seen before), newspaper
articles, and a yearbook from 1951! Please come in and
take a look at them, they are treasures!

Back: Mary Hanke, Heather Hubbard, Louise Vedder
Front: Barb Wilhelm, Michele Francis-Stine, Lucille Sharpe,
Sara Sellgren, Carli Critchlow
Saturday, October 14th, Barb Wilhelm and 6 other members
of the Mary Katherine Goddard Chapter of the DAR, Omaha,
met at the Lied Lodge for lunch and then toured the 52-room
Arbor Lodge. Heritage Days were also being celebrated and
activities included: bread making, leather crafting, churning
butter, fabric dyeing and printing, weaving, tin punching and
more. Had a nice visit with a "Mountain Man", who was
certainly dressed for the part. Except for all the rain, a
good time was had by all! Thanks to Lucille Sharpe for
her guidance and the nice family from Arkansas for taking
our group photo.

Condolences to the many family and friends of Gary
Dankleff who passed away October 12th after a battle
with cancer. He spent his early years in Unadilla and kept
those friendships. A jolly guy who always had a great story
to tell, he will be missed by so many.

Retirement of unserviceable flags
75 patriotic Americans braved the freezing temperature
and honor the American flag at a disposal ceremony
conducted by Legion Post #100 on Tuesday evening
October 10th.

Elliot Harden concluded the ceremony by
playing "Taps"
Thank you Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for
attending and showing your support. And thank you to
the Girl's State, Boy's State, and Junior Law Cadet for
talking about their experience and being an inspiration
to the younger kids. Thanks also to the Legion Auxiliary
for helping serve the meal and providing dessert!

Samantha, a visitor from Denver was fascinated by
the Legend of the Groundhog and wants to enter her
name into the running for Groundhog Queen 2018!
