Saturday, February 17, the Otoe County Genealogical Society
met in the Resource Room. President Barb Wilhelm called the
meeting to order with 6 members present. Future plans and
meeting ideas were discussed. Another program by Chris Effken
was tentatively set for March 17th at the Syracuse Library.
Meeting dates were set for the 3rd Saturday of the month, and
the Resource Room will now be open on the 2nd Saturday
and the last Wednesday of the month.

Saturday afternoon, "Three Chords and a Cloud of Dust"
entertained the public and there were 120+ in attendance.
You may know the keyboard player, Nina Jean Rohlfs.
Other members are Doug Nelson, Dave Rusk, Bill Hill,
Larry Bady, Norm Harmel, Dave Egr, Elaine Behrends,
Lucian Insua, and Dennis Bourk.

Jan Jones, John Bryan, Donna Speth
During intermission, Col. (Ret.) John Bryan was presented
a Quilt of Valor by Jan Jones, Donna Speth, and Nancy Mizner.

John then joined the band with his guitar and sang some
pretty good tunes. John was a member of SDA Class of 1965,
joining the Army in 1966. His service ended in 2007. You may
remember him as commander of B Troop, 302nd Calvalry in
Syracuse. After he retired he was appointed as Army Reserve
Ambassador for the state of Iowa, and 3 years later held the
same position in Nebraska. John then served as a Defense
Contractor for 6 years, ensuring Nebraska National Guard
and Reserve personnel had their jobs protected while serving
around the world. He fully retired in 2013 and he and his
wife Bridget live in the Kansas City area. It was one of the
most enjoyable afternoons we've had in a long time!

Unadilla Bill made it into TIME magazine!
Thanks to Perry Stoner for sharing his photo!
Thanks to All Fund Drive contributors Jeremy & Irene
Wilhelm.

Get well wishes to Maureen Vogt, Steve Schutz, and Retha
Neemann. Continued get well wishes to Sheila Glathar and
and Rich Lechner.
