
On Sunday, February 18, the Otoe County Legion Convention
was held at Talmage. During the joint meeting it was announced
that Otoe County no longer has a Veterans Service Officer.
Bonnie Brewer, Legion District Commander, gave a short talk
and reminded everyone of the District convention on March 10.
Mort Boelstorff, Nebr. City, and Carol Fisher, Talmage, then
honored Legion and Auxiliary members who had passed in the
last year. Those from the Syracuse Post were: Stanley Boldt,
Frederick Bull, Donald Hopp, Roland Kelley, Wayne Zieger,
Shirley Miller, JoAnn Clark, and Loris Roettger.

The two organizations then broke apart for separate meetings.
New County Legion officers are: Commander, Harry Chaffin,
Palmyra, Vice Commander, Ed Reed, Unadilla, and Adjutant,
Bob Wilhelm, Unadilla. County Auxiliary officers are: President,
Karin Chaffin, Palmyra, Vice President, Barb Wilhelm, Unadilla,
and Treasurer, Jan Jones, Palmyra.

Congratulations to Todd & Brian Zahn, LZ Farms, on winning
Commercial Breeder of the Year award at the Nebraska Cattleman's
Classic at Kearney this past weekend. 2018 Supreme Champion
Female was the Champion Purebred Simmental consigned by
Sisco Bros. Cattle Co. & LZ Farms. Way to go guys!

Thanks to Alberta Block for donating another example of
products produced at Amador Plastics, Unadilla. It is on
display in the History Room.
Also thanks to the Bob Schwartman family for their
generous donation to the Unadilla Cemetery in honor
of Bob.

Condolences to the family and friends of Joseph
Peterson, whose brother passed away unexpectedly.

Get well wishes to Norman Duncan, who was in a car
accident Friday evening. Continued wishes to Maureen
Vogt, Steve Schutz, Sheila Glathar and Rich Lechner.
Still looking for the Nebraska1967 5-cent stamp with a cow
in front of a huge ear of corn and the Nebraska Territorial
stamp from 1954 for 3 cents showing The Sower, for the
History Room. Let me know if you have one and we
can negotiate!
Plans are underway for the Unadilla BBQ on June 23rd.
Mark that day on your calendar! Clean Up Day will be
the Saturday before.

Barn quilt painting classes are getting ready to start up.
The next one will be Saturday, March 10, at the Duncan
Building in Unadilla. They will begin at 9 a.m. and go to
Noon. Cost is $25 for 1' X 1', $40 for 2' X 2', and a Gourd
is $25. All patterns and colors will be available.

Fred Wallen sold 52 loads of shelled corn which netted him $4200.
"The roads were m-u-d-d-y!" Ivan Rodaway had 32 newborn
lambs. Miss Clementine Roddy was teaching at the Waterloo
School, Otoe County School District #87.
