Loy & Darlene Boardman
Lots of trees were planted in the Park, Main Street streetscape, and
south of the Methodist Church by Burton Brandt, Barrett Brandt, and
Nolan Werner, under the supervision of Bob Brandt this past Sunday
afternoon. Thanks guys! Memorial markers will be added later
this spring.

The entire 4th grade class at Syracuse received a bald cypress
last Thursday to celebrate Arbor Day and the 40th anniversary
of the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum. Bob Brandt, member of
this organization, discussed the unique characteristics of the bald
cypress and also planting instructions with the 50-some students
and their teachers.

May is National Bike Month - get yours out and dust it off!

HAPPY STAR WARS DAY
MAY 4TH

Healing thoughts and get well wishes to Nancy Crownover.
Continued get well wishes to Roland Rodaway who surprised
everyone Sunday morning by appearing at church. He's on the
mend! Get well wishes also for Rich Lechner, Bill Davis,
Sheila Glathar, Jack Stilwell, Rose Brandt and Berdean West.
My sister Mary and I took another little trip to Dixon, Knox, and
Cedar counties in search of more relatives and information,
visiting 8 cemeteries and the Dixon County Courthouse in Ponca.

We stopped at the Towers of Time at the entrance to Ponca
State Park, learned there was a "volcano" near Newcastle,

and saw the beautiful Catholic Cathedrals of Cedar County.
While at the State Park we met a nice couple who were there
for a workshop on fly fishing for breast cancer mastectomy
patients. Apparently the motion of casting and reeling in
strengthens the muscles affected by the surgery; I was so
impressed by her story. Later we got to spend time with two
of our Boardman aunts. What a fun and fact-filled trip. My head
is swirling with all the new information - thank goodness for photos!
And, oh yeah, there was a great quilt shop on the way home!
Don't like driving to Lincoln anymore? Blue Rivers is providing
weekly service to Lincoln and back, and Johnson County Transit
is providing monthly service. Check out these posters:

The library has new books on their shelves – – books by well-known authors such as David Baldacci, Lisa Wingate, Boo Walker & others. We also have the book “Dream Like A Champion†by Nebraska volleyball coach John Cook — A must read for all Nebraska fans. Stop in and check a book out!

The Legion Post #100 would like to thank everyone who
attended the Hamburger Night Fundraiser for Legion Baseball
Sunday night. It was a great crowd!
