First games of Rocket volleyball last week. Oh my, they look
good! Come on out and show your support!

We are so glad everyone is using the recycle dumpsters west of
town, but PLEASE, no trash, and will you break down your
cardboard before disposal? THANK YOU!

Are you prepared? September is National Preparedness
Month. In light of the weather events the last few years, we're
hoping all Nebraska families have made disaster kits and made
shelter and escape plans. This IS Nebraska and you know how
fast the weather can change!

Did you know every dollar in agricultural exports generates
$1.28 in economic activities such as transportation, financing,
warehousing, and production? Nebraska's $6.58 billion in
agricultural exports in 2016 translated into $8 billion in additional
economic activity. Nebraska had 47,400 farms and ranches
during 2017; the average operation consisted of 954 acres.

Continued get well wishes to Bruce Gerking, Bill Davis, Cindy
Bassinger, and Pastor Sandy Denton

MK Meats has started the dirt work and preparation for
their new building. It will be east of their present location.

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

Friday, 8-30-2018, The Otoe Union:
"A NARROW ESCAPE: Earl Finigan had what came near being
a serious accident, Monday, while getting his oil tank to the car
filled at Bassett's garage. He struck a match about six feet away
resulting in an explosion of the gasoline in the tank. By the prompt
action of Henry Meyer with a fire extinguisher, the fire was put
out. The seats and cushions were burned up entirely and Earl
had a scare that he says will last hime a life time."
