ATTENTION RESIDENTS
Rural Water District #3 is working on the water lines in town
today. They will be shutting off the water into town for 4-5
hours. You will still be able to get water, but it will come out of
the water tower. The water may be cloudy for awhile after
the water is turned back on. If you have any questions,
please Corinne at 402-828-5355.
Thank you for your patience.

Fire Chief Steve Vodicka reports: "We are within &6000 of being
able to buy the self-loading gurney and power unit." Let's send
some donations their way so they can finish this project. The Rescue
Squad will also be hosting a garage sale in October with all proceeds
going towards the gurney purchase.

Did you know...books are an inexpensive entertainment that can
transport you to new places and introduce you to new people?
Your Unadilla library has books to please everyone and many
new books are added each month.
Stop in and check it out!
Bob & I celebrated our 48th anniversary over the last week
with a trip to the 4 Corners Monument at the border between
New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, and Utah.

Another item crossed off our Bucket List. (Colorado was an
unfriendly place to be while the Buffaloes were roughing up
the Huskers!)

We found out there's basically only one way to get to 4 Corners,
Hwy 160 both ways. We went over the Great Divide with C.W.
McCall's "Wolf Creek Pass" as our background music, attended
some flea markets, antique stores, the Potato Festival, the
Mining Festival, and the Firefighter's Festival.

It's beautiful country, some of the curves had me hanging on,
but it was worth it. Since I'm a big fan of Tony Hillerman, I
could imagine his stories unfolding around me..

The cities of Pagosa Springs and Durango were one of the
biggest surprises, bustling with activity and great restaurants.

Colorado also has a Chiminey Rock (we think Nebraska's is
better...), and both the gas prices and the ice cream were way
more expensive that at home. We won't even go into the traffic
in Denver on a Saturday afternoon! We made it back safely
with no problems, glad to be home again. It's true,
there is no place like Nebraska!
If you're unfamiliar with the song, here it is:

"I have wondered at times about what the Ten Commandments
would have looked like if Moses had run them through the
U.S. Congress." -Ronald Reagan
