We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at the Western Wilhelm
Outpost, minus the fact that Nebraska lost to Iowa. There was
some trash talking from our Iowa fans, who shall remain nameless,
but all in all a good day!

Now it's time to get ready for Christmas. May I remind you that
when you're cleaning out your closets for places to hid those
presents, you can donate those items to our local thrift shop in
Syracuse. It is managed by the hospital auxiliary and they are
now celebrating their 11th year. Besides giving those items a
new life, they also donate to those in need at our local schools.
Please tell them how much you appreciate them the next time
you visit!

Condolences to the family and friends of Steve Vampola and
Delmer Flessner, both veterans, who both passed away this
last week. Thank you for your service.

A cousins reunion was held 11-11 at the home of Frank & Joyce
Schulze. Special guests were Josh & April (Davis) Stander,
from Sacramento, CA. April is the granddaughter of Bill & Florence
Davis. Also attending were other descendants of William I. Dave, Sr.
and his wife, Amy (Baker) Davis: Sharon & Amanda Davis, Gerry
& Cherie Davis, Dennis & Sharon Baker, Merlin & Vicki Lange,
Mike & Julie Gerhart, and Corey Schulze & Sharon Demaree.
Everyone had a good time catching up on family news and some
traveled to Waubansie State Park and explored the
Baker Cemetery there.

The Sundowners FCE Club will be placing Santa's
Mailbox in front of the Post Office December 1st. Letters will
be accepted through December 18th. Please, include your
name and complete address if you want Santa to reply back
to you!

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

Friday, 11-29-1918, The Otoe Union:
"Thanksgiving was celebrated by most everyone in every town
by shoveling snow." Sherman Stedman and Lydia A. Motherhead
were married. Charles Stedman sold 24 April hogs for $921.
"The shooting match at the Ivan and Lloyd Rodaway home
Saturday was well attended. Thirty geese and 35 ducks were
soon disposed of and the markmanship of the boys showed
why the Huns surrendered."
