NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

 WWI 100 anniversary

Friday, 1-31-1919, The Otoe Union:

Lora Walling, daughter of John, died in Lincoln of the flu. Turk Pickett

was the new apprentice at the harness shop. "The boys returning home

are claiming an affectionate welcome from their families, and they are also

claiming plenty of apple pie and chocolate cake." Letters from "sammies"

still deployed were from Holly Stoner, in France, and Carl Fey,

now in Germany.
