VILLAGE BOARD MEETING TONIGHT (Wednesday)
Village Library @7:30 p.m.
All are welcome!
Although the celebration was pared down on Saturday, everyone still had a lot of fun and the weather was beautiful, compared to years past. The Duncan Building and Mal's Bar & Grill were the main meeting places.

Our day started out with some wonderful Groundhog cookies thanks to Dan & Bev Anderson and Linda Liesemeyer!

Left: Current King, Brett Dettmer, Current Queen, Jan Moore, Lifetime King, Mark Enenbach, Lifetime Queen, Lois Ebert. Brett & Jan are our longest serving King & Queen. Jan reminded us they wanted to have Runza include a Spam Runza on their menu which hasn't come to fruition yet, but they did get a Runza to come to Syracuse!
The quilt in the background was made by Glenda Willnerd from old Groundhog T-shirts worn by her uncle, Roland Rodaway.
Special recognition to the Lois Ebert family for 3 parade entries representing four generations.

These two, Mindy Liesemeyer Tuma and Andrew Kimbell, were King & Queen in 1991, before they were in Kindergarten!

Then it was parade time. Thanks to Perry Stoner for the announcing duties. There were about 50 entries; an exact number is hard to pin down as some entries had more than one vehicle. 1st Place - Cub Scout Troop #337; 2nd Place - Wilhelm Family Farms for best use of an armored vehicle; and 3rd Place to the Village of Unadilla for "The Village People." Photos not shown here and those that bystanders have contributed will be used on the Groundhog Day 2022 page, which can be found under the "Events" tab above. It was led by the Color Guard from Syracuse comprised of members from American Legion Post #100 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5547. Left: Gerry Davis, Ed Reed, Scott Halvorsen, Bonnie Carlson, Bob Wilhelm
Second in line was Unadilla Billie riding on the hood of the Brandt Falcon. (This Falcon has only missed 1 year of of the past 34, and the Falcon owned by Larry Beers has been in every single parade.)
Mark Enenbach & Lois Ebert also served as Grand Marshalls for the parade.

The "Village People"
After the parade, it was back to the Duncan Building, where you could get hot dogs and refreshments from the Boy Scouts, they sold over 120 hot dogs! The raffle winners were: Coleen Jensen, John Dageford, and Bob Wilhelm. The raffle netted $2350 for the Unadilla Library,
Then it was over to Mal's Bar & Grill, where there was live music from 3-6 p.m. The band, "The Soundhogs", are Unadilla favorites. They include Pat Glenn on the piano, Unadilla native Randy Baker on vocals, and John Moss on harmonica.

I think it's safe to say a good time was had by all! See you next year!
Happy to report that 93 people received distributions from the Lincoln Food Bank. If you get the chance, please thank their volunteers.

Thanks to Katie Callaway for her donation to the Veterans Room; it is a nice memorial for her husband Larry.
Of all the things I hear, this has been one of the strangest: John Stilwell reported there was a goat walking down the old highway. Wonder where he was going?

Get well wishes to all those who've been under the weather. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Need to get out of the house for an hour? Don't forget our exercise room is open and it has some great equipment (and a TV). There is also a big gymnasium to walk in. Individual memberships are only $25 a year.
Don't forget to perform a "Random Act of Kindness" on Feb. 17th. You never know how you might make a difference in someone's life!
