The descendants of Karl, Jakob, and Wilhelm Wagner held their
bi-annual reunion at Syracuse this year. There were over 100
in attendance both days. Bob & Barb Wilhelm, Michele, Maisie,
& Madison Hillman, Ani & Brody Hitzemann, Loy Boardman,
Larry & Denise Boardman, Mary, Deric, Codi, Emerson, and
Cory Hanke, represented the "Karl" branch as descendants
of Darlene Fisk Boardman. States represented besides
Nebraska were: California, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma,
Texas, and Missouri. There was a lot of visiting, picture
taking, and card playing at the headquarters (Sleep Inn)
and the dinner and auction was held Saturday night at
St. John's UCC in Syracuse. Still wondering why all the
"Nebraska" stuff went to cousins in Oklahoma! the
2011 reunion will be held in California.

Bob & Marcia Bryan, Gina & family, and Amy & family, attended
the commissioning of 2nd Lt. Luke Bryan at the ROTC building
on the UNL campus, Friday, September 11. He is the son of Russell
and Mary Bryan, and was commissioned by his uncle John Bryan.
Luke's first salute, with the traditional silver dollar, was given
to Sgt. Major James Pearson, Retired, who is a brother to the
late David Pearson and the late Virginnia Bryan. All enjoyed a
great meal at Skeeter Barnes'.

Ruth and Barb Wilhelm, along with about 30 others, attended the
Karen Wyatt Drevo presentation "Maria Rodaway - Prairie Pioneer".
It was held September 10 at the Morton James Library in
Nebraska City. Karen was in period costume and relived Maria's
voyage to America with her 7 children (she later had 6 more),
and the reuiniting of her family after a 7 1/2 year separation.
She spoke about grasshoppers, hail, drought, tornadoes, blizzards,
and the loss of her husband and six of her children, as she worked
to become a true farmer and citizen. We found it very interesting
that Maria's mother and brother eventually emigrated to Nebraska
also, her mother arriving at Maria's homestead on her 80th birthday.

September 13, in honor of Gene & Berdean West. All but one of
their greatgrandchildren were in attendance.

From our friends at BryanLGH:
The current influenza we are seeing is caused by a strain of
Influenza A, now called H1N1 (formerly swine flu). Transmission
of this is similar to other strains of influenza. It is transmitted
by droplets in the air when you are within 3 feet of someone
with the flu, who is actively coughing. It is also spread by picking
up the virus on your hands and then touching your eyes or nose
with contaminated hands.
*Avoid close contact with anyone who is sick
*Stay at home if you are sick
*Cover your cough by using your sleeve or tissues
*WASH YOUR HANDS, especially before touching your face
Symtoms of influenza include the following and usually
appear quickly:
*fever greater than 100F
*sore throat
*cough
*headache
*body aches
*tiredness/fatigue
