Welcome to new resident Sharon Demaree! Many of you know
her by now, so please welcome her to our village. Also welcome
to Adam Bassinger, who grew up here.

From Sue Saathoff: The library received donations this post month
of over 100 books! Great additions to our already substantial
library of over 15,000 books. A big thank you to Sharon Demaree
for her donation of books on art, drawing, crafts, gardening, and
much, much more. Another thank you to Glen Wyatt of Syracuse
for his donation of books and magazines. They include a
variety of novels, including westerns, historical novels,
and more. Many of Glen's books are in large print. If these
topics interest you, please stop in and check some of them out -
they're great summer reading for the entire family.
Did you know we discard enough motor oil per year to fill
over 100 super tankers? Talk about a carbon footprint!

The State of Nebraska has entered into a new, five-year contract for payment card processing services for credit and debit cards with U.S. Bank. The contract will become operational by Oct. 1, State Treasurer Don Stenberg said. He also stated that over the course of the contract, the state will save an estimated $550,000 in processing charges. Nebraskans continue to shift from using cash to the use of credit/debit cards. Stenberg said the state processed more than $154 million in transactions in 2014. Nebraska has been paying approximately 8 cents per transaction. The new contract will lower that amount to 4 cents and will eventually be lowered to 2 cents. By law, all state agencies, including the University of Nebraska and state colleges, are required to process their credit/debit card transactions under the state contract. Political subdivisions, such as cities, counties, school districts, and natural resource districts, may participate under the contract if they choose.
Unadilla Area Fund met Tuesday, July 14, in the Community
Library, with 7 members present. Corinne Zahn gave a report on
the BBQ and all the events, and what changes to make for
next year was discussed. Bob Brandt gave a report on
memorial trees planted, the new flag pole at the park, and other
items of interest concerning the Bike/Walk trail. A recycling
program located in Unadilla was also discussed. Barb Wilhelm
reported the speaker, Bill Ganzel, was hired and the
paperwork was ready to send in. We will meet again on
Tuesday, October 6, to discuss the All Fund Drive, and
the Schwann fundraiser.
